fly rod refinish
I have an old Orvis fiberglass fly rod that I want to refinish, and I'm wondering if anybody has a recommendation for a paint to repaint the fiberglass. The rod probably doesn't have much collector value, and it's pretty beat up, but it fishes real nice. I have to rewind all the guides anyway, and as long as I'm going to have the rod stripped, I just as well try and paint the blank if I can figure out what kind of paint to hit it with. Thanks

I have always used epoxy on any rod. Be careful sanding off the old finish. 0 -
Are you talking about an epoxy type paint? How about something like the aluma-hyde II that is used on all sorts of guns, fiberglass stocks and such? I've heard it is really good but somewhat brittle? Does that mean that it wouldn't flex with the rod and fall apart? Thanks for the reply
RobOz, that's an excellent link. I believe I can find out about anything I need there. Thanks so Much.0 -

I use clear epoxy. Epoxy is flexible and also strong. 0
