selling gun collection
I may be moving soon and want to sell my firearms.I have contacted a few auction houses,that sell on consignment.They want 20% of the selling price,they also get 17% buyer fee.
I would like to find a dealer to sell them here for me.I live in ma. Any dealers close to me that would list and sell them here on g.b.?thanks mark.

You can search for dealers in your area by using the GB FFL locate feature

Why not list the guns and then sell them yourself? All you really need is a digital camera for photos and a credit card for setting up your Gun Broker account.

You can find a list of GB-participating dealers in your area by checking the tutorial on the GB home page. I think you will do better if you contact them personally.
The auction house charges don't sound that bad.....until you find that most of them have limited customer data bases, & the actually selling price can be substantially less than you could get on GB.
But, a dealer must get paid for his time. When I sell gun collections, I figure it takes me 4-8 hours of work per gun. Time is money.

I don't know where you live in MA, but I'd suggest contacting Four Seasons in Woburn MA. Its probably the best gun shop in MA:

You spend your life collecting and then you are going to give away most of the profit to a 3rd party.
Do yourself a favor and learn to take good photos, and list them here. You will find alot more $$$$ in your pocket. [;)]0 -
20% sounds high to me. I was speaking with a large, well known auction house rep not long ago and their fees were somewhat less, and then the size and value of the "collection" reduced fees as well. Given this, you might want to check with other more auction houses, before you sell/consign your collection to a dealer. 0 -
consign them all to locust fork. she'll get you the best prices on gb. you can ship multiple guns in a shipment, so that shouldn't be that much of an issue. and her "commission" is less and no buyers premium, so you get the full amount theyre prepared to spend.

20% percent is HIGH...here in this area auction houses will sell firearms for 10% percent because it always attracts more people to their auctions,,,,no buyers fees either...

I understand that selling here is the best way to go.I have sold on the auction side.I dont have time,I need the guns moved NOW.I am not in a hurry to sell them,just need them in a safe place.I just found I am missing a ton of ammo that was stored in a shipping container.I think my 23 yo son is involved. 0 -

how many and what kind ? shotgun, rifle, pistol, revolver, bolt, semi-auto, single shot, etc.

Wow! Somebody is making money hand over fist with no investment but time.
I have liquidated several collections at auction and have charged a flat 10% of the sale price.
20% plus 17% sounds a little high.0
