Winchester Model 94 Trigger
I have a Model 94 produced in 1976 and I am trying to sell the weapon! I have had a few people that have looked at the rifle and they don't like the free travel of the trigger. I did a search on this site and did not find enough information on the trigger to help explain the travel. I have read that there is one half inch of travel of the trigger as a safety feature of the rifle. If there is an article or general information I can get the hands on I would apreacate it!

this is normal on post '64 m-94's, it's just the way they work. 0 -

You should have a "trigger block" safety that sits between the back of the trigger & front portion of the lower tang. There is also a little "tit" that sticks out, right behind the trigger block. The tit is actually a part of the trigger block, and the lever must be held up tight to the lower tang for the trigger block to allow you to pull the trigger. If your trigger just flops around, and your trigger block is not working right, then you will have to find out why this is so. Here are a couple of photographs that show the area in question:

By the way, I do not like this particular system of floppy trigger & safety. Unfortunately, that is the way this gun was made.0 -
hi emmett, there's no better teacher than experience. take it apart an figure out why there is too much looseness in 'er. if i can get one apart and back together anyone can. did you recieve the things i sent you? 0 -
I have taken the rifle down all the way, cleaned and reassembled. The parts they are talking about are pinned into the lower tang and I did not go down that far. I have come to the understanding that the extra trigger play was not in the Pre 64 Winchester and was added to the Post 64 so that it would take a lot more take up with the trigger to the sear and is a safety feature?
Try explaining this to someone who has never held a 94 used to a tight trigger with little take up, good luck!

just wanted to inspire the curious side of you into taking it apart. i would never doubt what mr. whiskey told us about the post '64 model. he has forgot more than i'll ever know. you did'nt tell me if you got the '06 sights i mailed you and if you made them work 0 -
Thanks, VDM55 for the sights I really apreacate your helping get the rifle finished. Thank for the posts to this subject, I got the rifle sold as soon as I could educate the buyer, I picked up a group of good explantions of the trigger that were chained together on another web site explaining the trigger over and over got the point across that this is a normal feature of this rifle.
