I have a cheap little dial hygrometer that seems to want to read 55%-60%, although I have a golden rod and desiccant canisters as well, is the gauge possibly not accurate, otherwise not sure what else I can do maybe get a digital hygrometer perhaps; it certainly doesn't seem humid nor does there seem to be a fluctuation in temp nor is it cold either?

As long as the desiccant is of recent vintage and the golden rod is always on, I wouldn't worry about it. If you live in a really humid area not a bad idea to to have a light coating of RIG on the metal parts both internal and external. 0 -
Yes, the goldenrod is always on and as a matter of fact I ordered the largest one available as the goldenrod that I currently have is one of the smaller ones. The desiccant canisters are new within a few years old and are rechargeable. We do not live in a humid area nor is the relative humidity outside very high although there is water nearby, but even going outside doesn't feel humid at all. 0 -
Hmm, well go figure I had the firearms storage a bit full with plastic containers, some cardboard and a couple small rubber mats and such, but not so that they were directly inhibiting airflow though and after I removed all that leaving the firearms the humidity dropped pretty significantly... 0
