TOP SHOT on the History Channel
No this is not a question but an announcement for a show that many shooters will enjoy watching.
Top Shot is a new 10-episode TV series premiering this Sunday, June 6 at 10 pm (9 pm Central) on the History Channel. (Top Shot repeats Tuesday, June 8 at the same hour.) Sixteen experienced shooters were chosen to compete for a $100,000 cash prize. The 16 contestants are divided into two teams. Each week the teams compete against each other, then one contestant from the week?_Ts losing team is eliminated from the show in a head to head elimination round. We?_Tve previewed Top Shot?_Ts first two episodes and we can say that Top Shot makes for good television. The cinematography and editing are first-rate, even if hard-core precision marksmen might quibble about some of the equipment used. In addition to modern rifles and pistols, contestants must master antique black-powder arms as well as crossbows, throwing knives, and even tomahawks. Hey, it?_Ts Hollywood remember?
Among the 16 competitors is {Elswhere} contributor Kelly Bachand, a talented young Palma shooter from Washington state. Kelly figures prominently in episode one. The History Channel has released an extended 11-minute Series Preview you can watch now on HULU.com.

I am looking forward to it. Iain Harrison, a competitor on the show from Oregon, is a friend of a friend. I hope to see some good shooting (and not a lot of reality show B.S.)

Typical "reality" show. Bunch of macho posers with a babe, a kid, and an old guy for variety. The hunk who couldn't hit the proverbial barn didn't even get voted off. 0 -

I've sighted in a new-to-me 1903 at 100 yards in less than 30 shots.
Anyone else possess this amazing capability?

Apparently Top Shot is not the value that I was hoping for. It seems that the History Channel and all of its derivative stations look to the Xerox machine in an attempt to clone the same types of shows endlessly, in the hope of capturing the larger portion of the mindless viewing audience in the U.S. There is so much potential for a quality shooting/competition show yet we get stuck with the dregs of the worst ideas a producer can come up with.
I have written a letter of severe condemnation to the History Channel and the producers of this abomination, expressing my extreme displeasure with their idea of entertainment. Hopefully thousands of others will follow suit and the show will get cancelled before another horrific display of stupidity is aired.
My apologies to the members for wasting their time.
