AR 15 barrel question

I remember seeing a company listing an AR15 barrel, 16 or 18 inch, with front sight mounted very near the barrel end (right at the flash suppressor threading), and functional gas block in the same,forward mounted, sight - I believe standard rifle length front furniture is used also. I can only find model 1 selling something close to it now, they use a gas block plus a front sight, but I am wondering if anyone has any input about these barrels? drop me a line, thanks for your time. ~b~

    Like this one?? They are known as dissapator barrels. This one is sold by CMMG. I believe they were also available from Bushmaster and a few others but they are around I think JT had some also.

    This one has the mid length gas length system, but they also can be had with the gas block as you stated. I've had a few of these over the years. If you know any machinist they can just cut 4 inches off your barrel and re-thread the barrel with a 1/2x28 die.

    I just found a tidbit more info from ar15buyersguide.com - looks like what I am looking for is a 16" barrel with a 18-20" barrels' port/front sight location, would put the sight right at the beginning of the threads. if anyone out there has one they took off, let me know too, and why removed. thanks again!

    The Defensive Edge SLR-15 Grail is set up this way (or at least used to be).

    Advantage is a rifle-length sight radius and gas length in a carbine length gun.

    Lemme see if I understand..

    you want a 16" barrel with a rifle length handguard and sight radious in an unspecified caliber and gas system length? CAR or mid length are your options for a 16" barrel..

    Or do you want an 18" barrel with rifle length gas sytem and sight radious?

    CMMG, Bushmaster, J&T distribution/doublestar all make "dissapator uppers" <<16" barrel/rifle length furniture.. CMMG sells an 18" upper with rifle length gas system..

    I have a Mod-1 barrel that I love. I had them take a 20" stainless heavy barrel with mid length gas sys. cut and thread to 18" with flash suppressor that gives you about 4" of barrel after the front sight/gas block. Its a tack driver!
