Newer Winchester 70 replacement stock
I just acquired a newer model 70 chambered in a 270wsm and I was wondering if an older winchester stock would fit even the newest of the model 70's. The one that's on it is a synthetic that isn't the greatest stock. If I keep it on there I'm going to have to bed it and it doesn't even seem like it would be worth it because the thing is so flimsy and ugly. I'd really like to put a nice wood stock on it. It has the trapdoor, but it is held by hex screws, and not the standard flip-open type like most trapdoor models are...any info? Thanks!

I would love to see some pictures of the floor plate-"trap door", that is not like the normal ones.
Any stock you put on there, for optimal results, you are going to have to bed...even the ones with the aluminum bedding blocks. I have a 25WSSM SS Ultimate Shadow that I put pillars in the factory synthetic stock, and it seems to do well.
I also took one of the Classics in 7MM Rem Mag, that had a synthetic, and installed it with pillars into a Boydds stock. Boydds seems to have decent quality in laminated stocks for the money. I did put that on pillars too. The pillar bedding is really not hard to do, once you have seen it, or have been helped with it by someone with the know.
