crossman jet line gun?

i see these conduit barreled guns for sale. they shoot a co2 cartridge. the cartridge is the projectile. it drags out a legnth of string behind it. up to 250 ft.
so, what were they used for?? what were they advertised as?

  They are used to send an electricians wiring fish line through the steel condiut. The projectile unravels a string as it travels through the conduit. This string is then attached to a metallic fish line and pulled through the conduit and finally the wires are attached to the metal fish line and usually pulled through with a Greenlee wire pulling machine as it is too hard to pull the wires by hand. I"m pretty sure nowadays electricians use compressed air to blow the string line through.

  thanks! I couldn't understand how the cartridge could be used as a projectile and maintain a straight path. but in emt, it all makes sense.
