700 VTR vs 700 Varmint SF
OK Guys:
Looking at a few Remingtons in small calibers. I have been looking at 221 Remington Fireball, and the 17 Remington Fireball. I have also been considering a 22 hornet in the 799. Never had a 799, but I love all of my 700s.
A lot has come about here in a few short years. I don't know much about the VTR and the triangular barrel or the Varmint fluted barrel.
Anyone with some experience with both would be a great help.

1988z01,
For the .17 Remington Fireball, I would go with the Model Seven Predator and skip the other two.
The triangular barrels are O.K. but not up to the small caliber accuracy that I'd like to see. The Varmint SF barrel is a little too long for the .17 RFB. The barrels I made for the .17 Mach IV ran somewhere between 20" and 23" at the longest. That's my take on this.
