Commercial Springfield 03-A3??

Recently purchased a Paul Jaeger Custom Springfield rifle in 30-06. The action is a Springfield 03-A3, but without some of the features and profiles of a military rifle, most noticeably, the lack of a dovetail to mount a receiver sight. Did Springfield produce a "Commercial" action? When and how many?

  "Did Springfield produce a "Commercial" action?"...........NOT OF THE 03-A3 DESIGN (THEY DID SELL 1903 ACTION PRE WW1) THE REAR RECEIVER BRIDGE WAS PROBABLY GROUND DOWN WHEN THE REFLE WAS REBUILT.

  Springfield did not make 1903A3s, they made 1903s with barrel mounted "ladder" sight, so no dovetail on the bridge. No such thing as a "commercial" Springfield action, although they sold rifles, barrelled actions, and actions through the NRA for a long time.
  
  There were multitudes of gunsmiths and tinkerers sporterizing Springfields from about 1909 up into the 1960s, until GCA 1968 put a stop to mailorder firearms. Paul Jaeger was just one of the better known shops.
