I tried to utilize the link listed in the previous post, but could not. Anyway, I have two model 100's. One is in .243 caliber and the other is in .284 caliber. The .284 has a manufactured date of 1964 and has a serial number of 855XX. All of the model 100's have checkering. The pre-64 models have a tight checkering, and the post-64's have a basket weave checkering which is much wider. The later, perhaps being up to a 1/4 inch wide in some areas. Whereas the pre-64's, all the checkering is 1/16 of an inch (or so).

    Anyway, I hope this helps.

According to Winchester factory documentation a serial no. was assigned and stamped on this gun on Aug. 7th, 1962. It was also assembled and finished that year.
