I'm thinking that the ammo is better than the big knife you are contemplating...[:D][:D][:D]. I believe it will create a little less wear on the operator...punn intended.

Being slightly better in performance than the 30-30, I speculate it would make a great hog round out to 100 yards or so. I have shot deer with it from an AK-47 clone(just to say I did), and it seemed to do well, but have no experience with armor plated hogs.

What size hog are you speaking to? In south east Texas they get up to 300 pounds. If you are speaking to javalina then the 7.62 x 39 will do very well. My 2 cents [8D]

I killed a couple does a few years back with Wolf FMJ's out of a Mini-30. One shot, neither one went more than a few paces. Im sure the soft points would be much better on game. I wouldnt hesitate to use them on Hogs, especially with an sks.....just dont stop shooting till they stop running[:D]

I sell 7.62x39 ammo to several hog hunters and they swear that regular HP ammo works great.122 or 123 gr. russian ammo. Golden Bear is what I sell they like the brass plating and cost. Besides who is going to pick up there brass when there are hog hunting.
