    I believe it is a sako L57 mauser-type action.

    either barreled and fitted by a contractor or completely by sako for the JP sauer trade mark for export. That part I do not know.

    Edit for specificity.

    While you may have a Sako L57 rifle, it is definitely NOT a Mauser. The L57 was the first proprietary model developed in 1957 after Sako used Mauser actions for it's initial offerings.

    You have to understand that without pictures it is much more difficult to attempt a blind identification.

    Wow that was quick! Except for the scope rings your pics are a dead ringer for the gun I am holding. Condition is excellent. I am sure you know what my next question is. Approx value?

    The first L57 was sn 1 made @ Jan 14 1957.
    The last L57 was sn 10090 mae @ Oct 9 1959.

    Value range of 500-1000 USD

    Nice rifle.
