remington r25
has anyone heard of any complaints about the r25 being noisy and the camo coming off ive read some other reviews on different sites and they say the camo is coming off in the store because of a lot of people handling it they say if you shake the gun you can hear it rattle ive been thinking of buying one but no shops in my area have it in stock nj must be post ban but the remington is post ban thanks hank

It is the same rifle as the DPMS LR 308 basically, as it is made by DPMS, which is now one of Big Green's sister companies. All finishes are wearable, but it sounds like someone, didn't do something right with that if the paint is coming off in the store. That is a hard anodized Aluminum reciever under the paint, and needs to be prepped accordingly.

If the camouflage is coming off in the store it needs to go back to the factory since this is an indication of something going wrong in the application process. Things like this occur in manufacturing but need to be resolved with the factory.
The finish on the Remington R25 is a water transfer-type coating which starts out life as a film. Generally, this type of coverage has a high wear factor in that it usually wears well even under somewhat harsh use. The real benefit is the cost per unit as opposed to painting especially when camouflage patterns are considered. Airbrushed camouflage is necessarily expensive due to the complexity of the process of getting all those color on in the right sequence.
The question of rattling often comes up in discussions about AR-style rifles. I just finished 12 of the R25's with new barrels and I didn't hear any real apparent rattles outside of the usual small noises encountered with these rifles. Sometimes folks just have to find something to complain about but in this situation, I'd have to hear what the problem is in person. I'm not defending DPMS or Remington just stating what I find in most situations.
