Mixing Hoppes No9 and Kroil Oil

Ever heard of mixing Hoppes No9 and Kroil Oil? Guy says it cleans better than straight Hoppes No9. Anyone had experience with this mix?

    I have used a similar blend of Kroil and Shooter's Choice. Works well, I keep a tall skinny bottle of it for soaking fouled autopistol barrels. Three days and leading will brush out easily.

    Kriol is the oil that creeps for rust busting. Not sure why it would not work any less than liquid wrench...
    But why?

    I have read recently that Hoppes #9 is water based (which must be the reason it is able to clean corrosive ammo residue and black powder residue). I do not know what Kroil is made from. The can says "contains Petroleum distillates." If it is petroleum based then it will not mix with water. You could call the telephone on the can and ask KANO. I have removed bad copper fouling build-up in a .45 auto barrel by filling the barrel with Hoppes #9 and letting it set overnight. Cleaned it 100%.

    And Hoppes #9 DOES NOT clean corrosive primer residual salts. The OLD GI bore cleaner will, and so will soap and water.

    Happen to have a 1/3 full bottle of over a 30 year old bottle of Hoppes #9. Chuckle, it had thickened somewhat. Rather than throw it away I decided to add some ford Dextron ATF, Marvel Mystery Oil and fuel injector/carburetor cleaner additive to it. Whenever I get an old rifle with a heavily fouled bore, I use it in the initial cleaning of bore. Works decently

    I could've sworn that's what it was designed for originally. Works great with 60+ year-old corrosive ammo in my M1. Guess I've been lucky in thinking that then.

    Hoppes has ammonia so it is great for copper fouling but you need water, or something water based, to take on the corrosive primers and Hoppes is not intended for that purpose. I see no advantage to diluting Kroil with Hoppes since doing so won't accomplish anything to improve either original product and will only reduce their efficiency.

    Hoppe's and Kroil 50-50 or Kroil and other gun solvents(Shooters Choice most often) have been used for some time now. I use Hoppe's & Kroil and could not be happier, together they do great job. Google the pair and you will see who and why they use it.

    I use Hoppe's straight for black powder or corrosive priming.
