need load chart for 50cal

need load chart for blackpowder 50cal percussion long arm rifle using sabot and bullet and using fff powder.

    for target or hunting? start at 70grns up to 120. 100 is usually more than enough the other 20 would be overkill. would guess 90-100 would be good starting point, shoot 3 then go up and down by 10grns till you get the best groups.

    for target the cheaper the better,maybe solid lead anywhere in the 165-195 range. A lot of the hunting bullets and sabots will run in the 75 cent to $1 range each, the lead bullets should run 25 cents or less. you should try different sabots and weights to find out what your rifle shoots best, each is a little different. then stick to it. Your shoulder will get a little sour trying to find that special load, but that is the fun of it, don't give up you'll find the right load with a little practice. for target shooting try the lower end of the powder charge, it will save your shoulder.[;)]

    You might want to check your twist rate. If you don't have a 1in 28 or faster, then you might as well forget sabots. If your twist is slower than a 1 in 48, then it is a round ball gun, and they are much cheaper than sabots, and are effective on big game also.
