Maverick 88

I recently purchased a Maverick 88; 12 gauge pump. It is the 'home defense' model with a short barrel and pistol grip stock. I have the standard stock and would like to use this shotgun for deer hunting. I've ben told the Mossberg 500 slug barrel is interchangeable. Is this true? Thanks.

    I know this has to be a frequently asked question, but I recently purchased a Maverick 88 and have been doing some research on accessories. This shotgun is essentially the same as the Mossberg 500 and all parts can be interchanged save the forearm. I am curious if there is something I can replace that would allow me to attach a Mossberg 500 forearm to this gun?

    I am not sure what your plan is but you would be way cheeper to just buy the 590 and then you would actually have a 590.

    Then why would you want to use a 590 trigger group, it uses the top safety............

    The 590 mag tube might work, however the Maverick trigger guard is longer and will not interchange.

    +1on just buying a 590. Dual slide rails on the 590, IIRC the Maverick only has 1. Or get a 500 and a 590 tube and barrel.

    I like the Mossbergs because of the safety on top but if you like the safety next to the trigger guard, you would be better off with a Remington. Especially with the mods you want to do to it.

    Dont let the safety get in the way...
    Both easy safetys one like Rem other like Savage.

    Then list it on the auction side, unless you wish to be put on the poof list. Read the posting guidelines.

    Seriously, if you like the cross bolt type safety, then get a Remington 870, and upgrade to a better gun.
