Russian POSP Scopes
I don't know if much has been posted here about these, but I bought one, and I thought I would post something for those thinking about doing the same.
I bought it from Kalinka. There have been some negatives posted on the internet about Kalinka, but most of those postings are several years old, with nothing negative recently. My experience with Kalinka was positive, with immediate feedback including a tracking number, and delivery was within 3 days. The scope was well-packaged, and I got exactly what I ordered, which is actually a non-standard variation.
The scope is an illuminated-reticule fixed 4-power with the Dragunov 1,000-meter range finder, but with an AK base, not a Dragunov. This will go on a Saiga (the elevation cam is cut for x54 bullet drop, not x39, but in combination with the reticule marks, a formula will be worked out). I desired the long range-finder for other reasons, as I wouldn't dream of firing an x39 at that distance.
Kalinka advertised the scope only as being from Belarus, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that it is a Zenit, which is regarded as one of the best. They are located in a suburb of Minsk, in what is now Belarus. The markings are all in Cyrillic (except for 'Made in Belarus'), as is the instruction manual, but Kalinka has an English manual on their website. A very likable feature is that once the scope is zeroed, the turret graduation rings can all be reset to zero, so you always know where you are at if you make field adjustments for range or windage.
Installation was straightforward and the factory zero came close to the already-zeroed iron sights, so minimal further adjustment will be needed. This also indicates good alignment in the Saiga's machining, as well as that of the scope.
The scope sits about 5/8" left of the bore line. This can be left parallel when zeroed, or adjusted to converge at any range. I'll leave it parallel, as 5/8" will become more and more lost in the groups as range increases. This is a sniping scope turned to white-tail hunting, not a varminter for miniscule targets.
The gun can be disassembled with the scope in place, if desired.
I'll post something about the repeatability of zero, after I final-zero it. [:)]

Very good, yes, just remove the two little screws in the top of the windage and elevation turrets once the gun is zeroed, and put them back on with the turrets set at 0.
You could have gotten a 1,000m .30x39 x ak female mounting bracket..
Repeat zero has always been good for me. the mounting bracket can loose tension after repeated removal so always make sure it takes alittle force to latch it onto the rifle.
back in the day when I bought my scopes from them they where made in belarus, optics cality is on par with german optics, and the movements where veryconsistant, if somewhat coarse. I can shoot the box all day.
If you dont mind I'd like a 1,000 round update on the newer scopes.

I think you really need to back off here. Machine Gun Moran was merely giving a report of his findings with his Kalinka scope. Sharing his findings, barring this being a big time advertisment, is perfectly within bounds of this forum I believe or it would be gone.
As seen it's brought about some good answers to support him and a question (myself) as to what holds it.
Two posts dedicated to moving the topic is wasting, what I feel, is possibly a good topic. Even if it isn't on the realm of a specific question about his item.0
