There is no photo of the top rib or the side plates where either a makers name or a "Trade Brand Name" would appear so can't tell you who made the gun. Agree that it is a Belgian made and is (what can be seen) in fair shape. Most likely made some time between 1880 and 1914.

Thanks for that, just for interest Ned there is no 'Trade/brand name' at all either on the top rib or on the side plates otherwise i might have been able to do some wild guessing and figure something out! Thanks all the same. Do you think it looks like anything to do with a 'William Moore' type?

Don't know what a William Moore type is. I have two listings for double barrel hammer type shotguns with the name William Moore & Co, one made in England and the other made in Belgium. The Belgian gun was made by a very large maker named Henri Pieper of Liege Belgium. Hundreds if not thousands of double barrels were imported from Belgium and England in the period between 1880 and 1914 when World War One, The Great War or The War to End All Wars (choose one) cut off exports from Europe. Most of these were fairly well made inexpensive (read cheap) shotguns. They were designed for the ammunition in use at the time which was black powder or maybe very early low pressure smokeless powder. The Belgian made guns especially will have damascus barrels with 2 1/2 inch chambers. . They were not designed for more modern high pressure smokeless powder, 3 inch or magnum shells or steel shot. I have to recommend that they not be fired because of this

Someone should mention to you that the ELG in the oval under the crown designates the origin in Belgium. Nice wallhanger.
