would like to know proper cylinder barrel clerance

Black powder revolvers don't need to have small gap like a higher pressure modern cartridge . The pressure is much lower. Also black powder will foul muchmore and could keep the cylinder from turning if gap is small. I would think any thing less then .020 would work. For plinking. 0 -

Got to wondering about original BC clearances. Checked with a feeler gauge my VGE .44 Rem and it is a tight .003". Also checked a Colt '51 Navy and a '61 Navy about same condition and got .004 & .005". 0 -
