HELP IDENTIFY OLD BAYONETS
Can anyone identify the gun that these bayonets would have fit and about what year??There is a lever on each that when pressed with the thumb will open the barrel hole notch to lock it on. The spike blades are 20 inches long. The handles are solid brass.
I do not know how to add images here, so if you would e-mail me, I will send pictures.
I do NOT want to sell them. I just need info., please.

My guess is they are circa 1870 to 1900.

From your description, it sounds like a French Model 1886 Lebel Bayonet.

French. WW I. Lebel. Infantry Model 1886. Before the rainy season. From the western slope. BTW, if yours DOES look like Rufe's, THAT sort of "spike" blade is called cruciform, shape of a cross. 0 -
