The prefix letter is W 0 -
If the prefix letter is a C then you have a pistol made for the civilian market in 1918.
EDITWell I see you have now added to your first post the letter W is for the 455 cartridge and were pistols shipped to in 1917 to London Armoury Co. depending on if this pistol is ALL original in both finish and original parts 455 cartridge barrel and magazine . it could bring a fair amount over a 1911 in 45ACP in same condition and year made. pictures would be a big help up close with natural light in Macro focus. It would also be nice to have a serial number to ask about information and then withhold the little information you have available to us really ties our hands.0 -
I don't know how to insert a picture ..yet, I knew it long time ago, maybe somebody can tell me how to, please. Meanwhile.. this pistol is .45 auto appear as in excellent condition in original very deep bluing (not 100% sure, because the finish looks to GOOD, lettering, however is deep and not polished off) with target rear sight(someone file down the sight's edges for conceal carry(?). The serial # is W91667. Back strap is checkered and is rounded. 0 -
It sounds like somebody bought a .455 and put in a .45 ACP barrel so he could shoot it with cheap ammo.
He also replaced the sights and mainspring housing.
Value is considerably reduced from an all-original gun.0
