Engraved Eastern Arms 38 S&W Top Break.
I have an Intrictley engraved with what appears to be pearl handles Top Break Revolver It was made by eastern arms and is a 38 S&W five round. Serial #9623 If anyone can tell me anything about it please email me at rhino1157@msn.com I was told that my great grand father is the one who bought it new sometine around or before 1900. Is this even possible? Before I even start to think about cleaning and restoring this pistol I want to know about it, and if possible its history. Thanks for reading this post. rhino1121

It would help if you posted some pics--theres a sticky on the front page of experts on how to do it. I have the same gun but in .32 S&W. They are turn of the century guns but not much collector value to them when compared to S&W topbreaks of the same vintage. If yours was factory engraved it might bring a few more dollars, but since it is a family heirloom you might just want to keep it.

eastern arms was a brand name owned by sears, roebuck & co. these revolvers were most likey manufactured by Meriden Arms co. Meriden was partially owned by Sears and made most of the revolvers sold by them.
yes it is possible that it was made around 1900. if so it could have been made by Andrew Fyrburg, he also made revolvers for sears around this time. sears had a habit of engraving models of revolvers they sold to use as show pieces in their main store in chicago.
the value of meriden made revolvers is not high as they were not the best made but an engraved one would be worth more than the normal one. how much is open for discussion.

thanks Bill! Always nice to learn new info. My uncle owned it and carried it in a pocket at a Watts, CA gas station he owned for over 20 years in the 50's & '60's. 0
