EDM Chambering???

Gimmick or the only way to go?

    Maybe they could fix all those PTR barrels which don't work.

    Given the means and tecniques' we have to fasten a barrel to a reciever these days, I would say gimmic.

    I have seen and used EDM before on some processes building firearms, and it works well for certain intended purposes. I have not seen the chamber cutting process, as described in your post, but assume it has to be integrated with some type of CNC operation. If not, the electrode used for cutting the chamber would have to be made for different cartridges.

    I did go to the link, and read some of the advertised advantages, of no machining marks being one of them. When properly cut and finnished, a reemed chamber has a very fine finnish, and is concentric with the bore. So I really see no advantages.

    As an added note, I see no need to post, "Highly skilled only need reply". That is offending to some people, and some of the true experts on here might bypass that, as they would discern that you don't need their advice.

    Do any winning Bench-Rest gunsmiths use this process to chamber their Rifles. if not then it must not be a better mouse-trap. . Bench-Rest shooters will go to great lengths to get the most out of their equipment.

    Sounds like a neet application for the process. Would like to see his setup; as those I've seen take place under the coolant. Would like to see how he gets it all immersed.
