    I can see that Ruger made several versions of the Single six. I dont want to research them. As I understand it the extractor on the early guns was steel as oposed to aluminum on the latter guns? I have 2 of these made in the early 70s with 5.5" barrels. I want to get a 4 "( 5/8?) barrel and sell these. If you were wanted to get on of of the shorter lengths which one or what would you look for. I do want a non converted 3 screw. that I know

    4 5/8" guns are hard to come by in the Single Six series , i believe they where made in both the fixed sight and adjustable sight versions

    According to Ruger Single Actions: The Second Decade by John C. Dougan, the ejector rod housing was changed from blued steel to black anodized aluminum at approx serial number 363XXX in April 1963).

    Dougan confirms what gskyhawk says about the scarcity of the 4 5/8" barreled pistols.

    Only 200 Super single Sixes (adjustable sight) were made in 4 5/8" barrel and this was due to an error in manufacturing. I didn't spend enough time in the book to see how many 4 5/8 barreld Single Sixes were made.

    Rex, If you can get ahold of a book called, "Ruger Automatic Pistols & Single Action Revolvers Book III" by Hugo A. Lueders .You would be surpraized at all of the different Ruger variations. Full of info.
