Model 70 Bolt/Extractor Problem3

Sorry to disagree and sorry say that some of you referred to, or read, the Winchester manual incorrectly but, the manual(s) for my Model70 and the more recent, and older versions, explain how to hold the third cartridge down in the magazine while you load the fourth directly into the chamber.
So, who is right? The "offensive moderator" that cut my thread off or the oem manual? Are my other Model 70's anomalies because I can load them direct with almost no extra effort or is the one that won't load direct the problem?

    I'm assuming that all of your Model 70 Winchesters have the 'Mauser' type claw extractor..there was a time that that wasn't the case, and they had a push-feed system.

    But I digress..the manuals that show the 'holding down of the top cartridge' in the magazine in order to place a loose round directly into the chamber, was it [the manual] refering to the push-feed Winchesters produced until quite recently? Please check carefully on that aspect.

    Bottom line: snapping a 'Mauser' claw type extractor over the cartridge rim during the closing of the bolt is to cause stress on the extractor. Stress that is completely, and totally eliminated if the rifles are magazine fed.

    I'm kinda through here, also. Best you take the difficult rifle to a qualified gunsmith, and see what he has to say. Best, and good luck! Joe

    Yes, they are all Mauser type and the manuals are the ones that came with the rifles and the actual photos in the manuals shows tthe Mauser type. http://www.winchesterguns.com/customerservice/ownersmanuals/index.asp

    If you have to ask then you obviously don't know what you're talking about and shouldn't be making judgmental remarks about the moderators. That in and of itself is justification for deleting this thread. Please read the Posting Guidelines to be fully informed.

    The "offensive moderator" has more time and experience with Mausers, Winchesters and just about every other rifle that you can name. I happen to know that the extractors break and have replaced several after the know-it-all owners tried to get the extractor to snap over the cartridge rim by force.

    So, once again, this thread is locked and any other objectionable threads and comments will be deleted without warning according to the Posting Guidelines.
