Firing Pins in Knickerbocker
Hi,
I have a 20 gauge Crescent Arms Knickerbocker, with sidelocks...the pins are free floating...and sometimes I get light primer hits, resulting in slightly dented primers but no ignition. The v springs seem to have plenty of energy. I have dissasembled and cleaned the sidelocks, pins and the area where the pins travel. The pins when released have plenty of movement thru the breech, and apparently are plenty long enough, but I suspect there is not close enough proximity from the back of the firing pins to the hammers when cocked sometimes, since they are in there floating freely. My gun also does not have barrel extractors with slots that line up with the pins to move them back (like LC Smiths) when closing the gun, resulting in occasional hangup when closing. I'm wondering if any of you knickerbocker owners know if the pins should have retaining springs attached to help with consistency of action? If that is the case, I'm guessing I may not have the right shaped pins as there doesn't seem to be room in there for any springs....
the serial number on my knickerbocker is 214917.
Any knowledge of these guns or source of parts diagrams surely appreciated, as I'm trying to make this a consistent shooter for an upcoming vintage shoot at a local club. I can supply pics of any of the parts if it would help analysis.

Pins in the Knickerbocker are not to have retaining springs of any kind. Parts diagram is on Numrich Gun Parts Corp. site if you look up the Crescent Hammerless model it will come up.
I know what you mean with the pins not clearing the extractor. This happens on my hammer crescent and my hammerless sometimes. You could file grooves in the extractor to clear like the LC's. That is if you don't mind modifying the gun.0 -

I looked at the Numrich parts diagram and my pins look the same. My extractor does not extend to the pins so there is no contact with it and the pins. Later, I'll take some photos and post.

There should be 2 parts to the pin's, but no springs involved... 0
