Assemble a 9x18 Markova?

I think I may end up with a 9x18 Markova field stripped and in a box. I can't locate a manual about how to reassemble it. Can anybody advise me on this?

If so, thanks in advance.

    Presumably you mean a "Makarov". (I don't know what a "Markova" is, but it sounds sexy! [;)]).

    If its just field stripped, that's not a big deal at all.

    If its "detail stripped" (ie taken down to every pin and screw), that's going to be a lot more work, but its still doable, and when you're done, you'll "know" the gun!

    You should already be clear, pull the trigger guard down and rest it on the left side of the frame. Pull back on the slide and up and slide forward over the barrel. Reverse the process to reassemble.

    Don't worry. It's hard to mess up with a Mak. About the worse thing that can happen is having the extractor spring fly off into oblivion, (assuming that it was removed from the slide). If you can't find it, just order one.

    I took mine apart and got it back together with just a schematic drawing. After you do it once or twice you won't need a guide. Just remember, the gun was designed to be very sturdy and simple enough for the Soviet bloc troops to tear down & reassemble.

    Excellent observation. This afternoon, when I got the Makarov home, I found out exactly what you describe. Course disassemble down to the last spring and tiny part might be a different matter. If I go ahead and color coat the gun I will soon find out. Thanks.

    I wonder why it was mentioned the trigger guard should be to the left?
    The instructions that came with mine read: "pull down on the front of the trigger guard and push it to the right or left."

    I sometimes have a hard time getting the barrel to go through the front of the slide & I have no idea why.
    I also had a hard time getting the slide back on untill I found you have to give it a good push at the rear. I assume that is to push the hammer down.

    Reference the next post. I never would have noticed one end of the spring is larger. It's hard to see but it's easy to notice by putting the spring on the barrel. It also seems to make some difference how the spring is oriented.

    You may have a hard time getting the barrel to go through the front of the slide because you have the recoil spring on backward. The small end of the recoil spring goes onto the barrell first. Yes, putting the slide back on required a tremendous amount of effort. I assume beause the recoil spring is so strong due to the action being a straight blowback design But if you use a lot of muscle to get the slide back into it's proper place, the slide should suddenly slip on and into the right place almost like magic.
