gunsmithing the Mauser broomhandle

Anyone out there with experience with correcting failure to engage sear, etc preventing hammer from falling when trigger is pulled.
Have two broomhandles in like new condition - both remafactured . One is a Federal Ordenance , the other a Mentor Arms.
No parts are missing or broken , all internals are pristine, but fail to function. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
