Bert, my win 94 again please......

I used your photo from your survey sticky to find a good picture of the rear sight elevator as the one got on mine is wrong. (did find a factory reproduction part). But looking at your picture and comparing to my gun,the distance from recvr. to the sight is alot more on yours than mine .I then started questioning if the sight leaf itself was wrong on mine. Then my wife pointed out, on your picture the writing on the barrel from left to right, says winchester..model 94...30 wcf. On mine,from left to right, it says..model 94....winchester.....30 wcf. ?????? Different years ?? It looks to me even if I got the sight elevator like in your picture,if,I would need to raise the sight,the elevator would have to ride on top the recvr. ????? The OAL of my barrel is 20" dead on, from the tip of muzzle to the chamber, where the barrel comes through the recvr. Please educate me.

also, the clearence on mine, from rear of sight to front of recvr. is 1 5/8". The OAL of sight leaf is 3 1/8".
Found this 3rd picture from the auction side. Is this the sight elevator I need ?

    O.K, going through 17 pages of Winchester 94's on the auction side,I learned:
    There are MANY diiferent models and variations.
    Many different sights and sight elevators.
    The models close to mine all show the same style sight elevator.
    Found ONE gun made within the same time frame as mine [:)]

    This gun has the same writing on the barrel and clearly shows the sight elevator.[:)] I found one sight elevator identical on the auction side and hit the 'buy now' button.[:)][:)][:)]

    Your 17-pages of Winchester Model 94s was exactly what you needed, and yes, your findings are correct. The late pre-war guns typically all have a 22 series rear sight with the same short distance from the receiver frame ring, which requires the short (reversed) elevator.
