    How does one go about verifying whether or not he/she is in possession of an open bolt TEC-9?

    One of the old open bolt KG9's would probably command a price of $1100 if you decided you wanted one, The Tec 9's were closed bolt and are not worth anywhere near $1100.
    The open bolt KG9's were grandfathered in along with the RPB open bolt MAC semi auto pistols.
    I forget what the cut off date is (someone will chime in), but open bolt pistols manufactured after that date are not legal to posses.

    He's not doing you any favor; that's about what I would expect to pay a gun shop for one.

    I really wouldn't want one. The value is based solely on the "They don't make them any more" factor. It's not a good quality gun. You won't want to fire it. What's the point?

    I'll add that the most interesting thing about an open bolt gun is that its easier to illegally convert to full auto fire. (Yeah. . .they also cool faster. . .big deal). But that's why the ATF banned them.

    If you don't intend to do that, there is nothing about the design that would make it any more interesting than any other Tec-9. . .ie its a piece of crap.

    I think for the price you can buy a LOT more interesting gun, one that will be both more fun to shoot AND will appreciate faster. (EG a nice Colt auto, etc).
