Hi Standard Question What Did I Buy?

I bought a Hi Standard Magazine but I may have given the wrong information to the seller. On the left is the mag that I got with the gun, and the right one is the one I just bought. Is it the same? There seems to be an extra peice on the bottom, which I think may be to reach it if you have custom grips. It also has a green plastic follower, if this says anything. My gun is a Supermatic Citation 102 Series. What did I buy and will it work?

    The modern High Standard's
    have what is called a military grip angle that is what the magazine on the right will fit the one of the left is for the so called SLOPE grip pistols model 102 & 103. the military grip mags will work on some of the Slope grip models and not on others try it it may work on your pistol. IF it will latch into the grip frame.

    The way the magazine body is constructed by spotwelding, it might not be a original High Standard magazine. I have some Triple K replica magazines that appear similar.

    That said, they function OK in the H-S that I use them in. If you can return this magazine to the individual you bought it from, you might consider giving a Triple K mag a try. Since they have been making their magazines in the States, their quality has gone up in my experience.

    As usual, Perry has it, though I think the term "slant" grip is more common for models with the angular grip (like my 1964 Supermatic Citation 104, below).

    Try your mag and see if it works. You might get lucky. If not, there is still hope (see below).

    Because High-standards lack a bullet feed ramp/guide, the magazine lips serve that function. Consequently, the guns can be VERY magazine-picky when it comes to function, and some "tweaking" of the mag lips may be necessary to get the mags to work.

    You bought a 107 series mag. I dought if it will work in your 102. It should be too long.

    That is my next concern. I can get a new triple K for 10 dollars less than I paid for this one. But I still will try to get to the range today and give it a shot.
