Why does the Smith and Wesson 460XVR come with two different compensators?

The quick answer is that the one with holes in the top is for jacketed bullets.
The one without holes in the top is for lead bullets.
The idea is that while holes on the top of the compensator should help reduce muzzle flip, leading of the compensator holes with all lead bullets could both clog them up, and also make the compensator hard to remove.
If you want to, I think there is a non-ported end cap you can buy to get rid of the compensator altogether (and reduce muzzle flash).
