.410 loads for clay shooting?

My sons are both on the local 4-H clay shooting team, and they use 20-ga shotguns, which are more than adequate. At today's practice my wife wants to shoot her birthday present, a Taurus Judge, and see if we can hit target clays with it, as well. Is that possible with .410 bore? If so, what's the best kind of load for hitting flying clays?

    I had a Judge awhile back. None of the factory or my handloads would give a reliable pattern past 5 yards from the muzzle. It's basically a short range snake gun nothing more. I hate to say it but your better half will get all full frustrated trying to hit a flying clay bird with a judge.

    That's what we figured. But we'll still probably shoot it just to get a feel for the recoil, etc.

    Out of a .410 I've used 3in. #6s in my Contender.

    I'm hoping I'll be able to use the new Rossi carbine coming out later this year to shoot at clays. It should have greater range.

    I've used Speer shot caps loaded with #9 shot in a 44 Special to break hand tossed clay birds within 10-20 feet. Only an extremely quick shot would break a bird thrown by a standard trap thrower.

    I use a T/C 44 hot shot cspsule with 8 gr.bullseye with a vel.of 1218 FPS in my contender which also shoots 3 in 410;s,dont know if judge can take them loads.tks hedge[:D]
