Kleen Bore target bad guy identity

Hello from the ever sunny south [8D],

OK....I have a light-hearted question for all of you today. I have heard several stories about why the "bad guy" on the Kleen Bore targets was first created, but I have also heard that someone posed for the caricature and may still be living. Rather than pass on what I've heard, I'd rather see if anyone here can square this story with maybe even a bit of fact!?

  If you are refering to the targets that feature a lifesize line drawing of a thug facing you, and pointing a smallish pistol in your direction, then two people come to mind, both actors:
  
  Victor McLaglen, and
  Mike McGurskey
  
  The target I'm refering to has been around for at least fifty years..and may have been taken from studio shots of an actor many years ago. How'd I do? Joe

  I wish I knew the answer!! As far as your guess go, I give you an "A" for trying! I heard that a NYPD detective, long retired, posed for the caricature drawing. Maybe because I'm here in Florida the rest of the story is wishful thinking but, it's rumored that this detective is still alive and about 92 years old enjoying retirement here in Florida.
  
  My wife thinks the target picture looks like Andy Griffith!!
