Need Help Identifying Large Rim Fire Ammo
I just aquired some large bottleneck, rimfire ammo and I don't know what it is. The bullet diameter is about .419" and the overall length is about 2.2". See photos and thanks for your help.

Thanks, I've got 18, can I sell them on the auction side and legally send them thru the mail, or other carrier? I've read the post about "shipping ammunition", but please, somebody cut thru the legalize with a "yes" or "no", especially regarding the Postal Service. I've bought ammo on gunbroker before and my purchases were delivered by common mail, but I've never been the sender. 0 -
You absolutely cannot send them through the mail-illegal. You CAN send them via UPS or FedEx though. Just box them up and inside a square write the letters ORM-D and under that Small Arms-Cartridges. Or you can download the stickers off the net. You have to go to a main hub though not one of the UPS stores to ship them though. Long guns can be sent through the mail by non ffl's--handguns can only be shipped via the US mail by an FFL and ammo has to be shipped UPS/FEDEx. The only exception MIGHT be if you lived in some extreme remote part of Alaska & UPS was contracting out to the Post Office. If someone sent you your ammo through the mail they were taking a big chance on committing a crime. You can of course send empty brass or just bullets through the mail as they are not assembled cartridges--just don't mail primers, powder or loaded ammo. 0 -

It's a exemption for small (consumer) quantities of material that would otherwise be considered Hazardous Materials / require special training and handling.
This is primarily due to the small size of the individual containers (with ammo, each cartridge is considered a separate container)
ORM-D materials do get some special handling, IE ground transport only, but no where near the level that hazardous materials get IE placarding, load mixing, etc

Actually Mike, you would be financially liable for damage and costs if your package is involved in a incident, due to your deliberate mis-labeling of the package. Consumer Commodity's are things like spray cans.0 -
