reminton 870 mag tube thread size SD

hello-can anyone tell me what the thread size is for the magazine cap on the 870 12ga remington shotguns? and where a tap of that size could be purchased? it is a square thread and i don't have a thread gauge for that style of thread,thanks for any info

  this is not a standard size, you would have to have one custom made.

  if the threads on the mag cap are bad just replace it. if the threads on the tube are bad it will have to be replaced by the factory. i was able to salvage a tube with bad threads by some very careful filing with a small swiss file. was a time consuming project though.
