45- 70 45/410 Derringer
I have recently aquired an American Derringer Model 4 45-70 45/410 Derringer. Any one have idea of value or any information on this gun?

IMHO it's just a novelty/conversation piece to hang on the wall. Doubtful that any rational individual would even shoot it, unless they were into pain. I was at a range years ago where a guy was allowed to shoot one of these custom magnum single action revolvers chambered for a custom .470? cartridge. He didn't know how to handle the recoil and got the front sight imbedded in his forehead. More then likely the same thing would happen with your jewel. 0 -
?? - Does it have one barrel chambered for 45-70 and the other barrel for 45/410? The 45-70 case head diameter is .500 but the .45 Colt is only .480, and would probably split in a 45-70 chamber. 0 -
That is correct the top is chambered 45-70 the bottom 45 LC or 410[:D][:D] 0 -
IIRC these were advertised at the "Alaskan Survival" model. My best guess is to use the 45-70 round on the bear. If that does not work, use the 410 on yourself. 0 -

I have a Bond Derringer with the 410 - it's not too bad. I can handle the hard recoiling stuff and have lots of T/C barrels in heavy calibers, but I'm figuring that box of 45/70 ammo has maybe one empty case in it.
I see these 2nd hand for about $300.00 or so, they seem pretty well made but not as nice as the Bond.0
