Marlin 39A - help

Having a problem when the bullets feed. As I lift the lever, the bullet does not chamber every time. A few get stuck in an upward position, and are not getting fed all the way. I think it has something to do with the feed ramp. I tried many different types of .22 ammo, all the same results. Any suggestions, well besides calling/sending it back to Marlin? Or is that my best option?

  Work the lever very forcefully on both the downstroke and upstroke.
  If that doesn't work: disassemble; clean the action; lightly lubricate; reassemble. Work the lever forcefully again. These rifles are known for their durability and reliability. Worn parts ??

  I agree with the cleaning of it. Sounds like it needs it.

  If you look up under the frame behind the chamber there is a flat metal spring that has a screw holding it in. This spring stabilizes the bullet as it start into the chamber. If it is broken or weak it will cause the problem you are having. If it is all there try pulling it down a little to see if that will correct your problem. Brownell's or Mid Way both have this part.
