Value of a Leica Ultravid 4.5-14x42F Rifle Scope?

I have a Leica Ultravid 4.5-14x42F rifle scope that I purchased around 1998 or 1999. It's currently mounted on my Weatherby Mark V Accumark and is in absolutely mint condition. It's never been out of the case or out in the field. I've got a pretty good idea as to the selling price of the Weatherby but I have no idea as to the value of the scope. From what little I've been able to find, only a few were made and there's almost no information about it online.

What do you guys think the scope is worth?

    At that age it is used not collectable. 75% of new cost.

    Used scopes are usually worth about half of a new one. If mounted on the rifle and sold as a package, for some reason, they are worth even less.

    DON'T sell rifle with scope on it. As BPOST stated $700.00 rifle with $700.00 scope as a package deal you will be lucky to get $1000.00. if you have someone that wants the rifle then sell the scope here. start the scope with good close up in focus pictures and model number at $100.00 no reserve .Most buyers edit out reserve auctions be cause they run for months if not years hoping to find a sucker.

    edit hello Sand warrior I was not trying to say the scope did not have high value . I was only agreeing with BPOST that the best way to sell was not mounted on the rifle . The reason I said to have a starting value of $100.00 was in no way to imply that it had a value anywhere near this low figure. But to suggest the seller let the bidders decide it's value.The fact is that reserve auctions do not get the highest number of bids. This is because many people myself included EDIT OUT all reserve auctions. This is because these items are just Fishing and not truly items for sale.

    I think Leupold made them for Leica using German glass.

    I'm going to say completely different than what is above posted. In mint condition, a Leica is going to retain about 90+% of it's value. Same with the handful of other really top end scopes. Just like NF. It's worth what the buyer paid for it new if it's in good cosmetic and mechanical condition.

    Leica is a highly respected name in optics and camera. It's classed with NF, Premier, USO, Schmidt & Bender. There is a difference even between those. But, they don't lose value unless you give it away.

    It would be true if it were a good to mid-grade scope that it would the kind of value mentioned above.

    I see what you're saying. An auction will tell the true value of an item. At least at the time it is sold. Sometimes better, sometimes worse. I agree with you there that you shouldn't sell them together. To a buyer, a scope left on a rifle means "DISCOUNT" on a great scope.

    This is one of those scopes though that I know will hold their value. I hate to see someone not think of it for what it's worth because that's what most normal scopes do on the market.

    I have purchased 2 on ebay auctions at about $750 each with wooden box and paperwork. Both thre 3.5X10 and 4.5X14 AO.

    Leica and Leupolod got cross-threaded somehow now neither Co will discuss it.

    Leica is now offering new ones for sale for around 1800 each. (Look at SWFA).

    Nice scopes.

    And special thanks to jplookster for the SWFA site reference. Comparing it to those scopes tells me it's worth a bit more than I thought.
