RNWMP Colt Revolver

I just inherited a Colt revolver stamped RNWMP on the side.
Looking for any advice on how i can research this weapon.
I believe it is a .45 but not sure.

  If your pistol is not too worn you can read the caliber on the side of the barrel. Read the stickies above to see how to post photos. There are experts here who can help you but they will need clear, close up photos of all markings as well as one of the overall pistol. Welcome to the forum. I have learned a lot here and I think you will too.

  The colt New Service Revolver was standard issue to the RCMP for many years in the 1900's. I don't recall if it was in .45 Long colt caliber or .455 Webley caliber. There are many, many articles on the Colt New Service Revolver and if you search the internet you can find much information.
