Value of Armscorp National Match
I posted yesterday about this and I want to thank everyone who took the time to respond. I really need to get an idea of the value of the gun. It's a preban Armscorp NM A1 with 1300 rounds of ammo. Assume it's in very good condition. I will view it personally saturday ti inspect it myself. I would loke to know what to look for as a visual inspection. I will look at the bore and the machining quality etc. Is there other things I can look for to determine if it's a good gun? Any advice and a price range would be awesome. While some National Match rifles are bought as high end toys and seldom fired, there are guys who actually use their rifles in competition and shoot them a LOT--But I doubt this is the case with this rifle since the guy selling it appears to know little or nothing about it. See what kind of ammo he is giving away with the rifle and if it is good stuff that is a nice plus. If it is cheap ChiCom steel core ask if he fired any of that stuff through the rifle and if so be concerned about minor damage to the rifling. There are gauges to determine barrel wear but if fewer than a 2000 rounds of quality ammo have been fired then barrel wear should not even be a factor. Looks for a nice tight lock up between the trigger group and the butt stock. If you have to struggle to remove the trigger group this is a good sign. If it basically falls out into your hand then either the lugs on the trigger guard have failed and the guard needs replacing or the bedding in the stock is worn away, which means re bedding and a hassle. 0 -

I can't tell much from the photos you emailed except that the rear sight is NOT a National Match rear sight. The wood looks okay (it appears to be birch and not walnut, but that is not an issue). There is simply not enough detail in the photos to get a lot of information about the rifle about the rifle but I can say that I would NOT be willing to pay a NM premium for the rifle as it looks more like a standard grade to me. Check it out closely when you look at it and use caution. 0 -
Too many things the seller told you have turned out not as he described. Maybe it was assembled by Armscorp, may not. Some of the bare receivers they sold had terrible problems; at this point, you don't really know how good it is. Look as close as you like, you just don't have the knowledge OR the gauges to evaluate this type of rifle.
For less than $100, you should be able to have a service-trained armorer perform a "technical inspection"; I think it would be money well spent.
