Repair H&R Revolver Lever (Cyl Hand) Slot
I am piecing together another H&R New Model Hammerless, blue, small-frame .32 S&W, 5-shot revolver. The slot in the frame where the cylinder lever extends to rotate the cylinder has gotten elongated and the lever will not retract properly, it "falls" out of the frame behind the cylinder. Any advice on how to fill the slot such as JB Welding or brazing? It won't take much if welding is recommended, but I would appreciate any comments.

I'm confident the slot is too long. The slot extends from just above the center of the cylinder downward to the trigger housing, or about 3/4" of an inch overall. It has either been "lost to rust", or someone cut it. Thanks for your help.0 -
How 'bout you get a hand blank (larger hand) from somewhere, and fit the hand to the existing hole?
You must find out what an unworn, serviceable hand looks like prior to making any adjustments to the frame. If it is the frame, then..
The G/S must find a serviceable frame to use as a 'constant-for comparison' in stoning/polishing the hole after it is welded with new material.
It's a noble project, but out of reach of most all except a professional shop with correct equipment. Can You Post Closeup Photos Of The Area Of Which You Speak??0 -
I hope the pictures upload OK, this is my first try at it.
What I'm showing is the milled lever slot, the lever extension with trigger at rest (note cylinder cannot be closed), and the lever extension with trigger at fire position. If the slot looks "normal" for this model then my next suspicion is a worn shoulder on the trigger that allows the lever to fall too far forward.

It does look like someone went wild with a hacksaw blade or file, but it also looks like the pointed end of the lever is broken or filed off square... 0
