M1911-a1 US Army question

H.S. 10-X
I have an old m1911-a1 USarmy made by Ithaca. It's in fair to good condition in my opinion. I think it was made in 1943 but I'm not for sure. I was wondering if there ar any web sites where I can reference the serial number to find out when it was made, how many where made that year, and a possible value of this pistol. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    You want to visit some strange web site instead of just asking us for help? [V] What is the serial number? Ithaca produced the 1911-A1 in 1943, 44 and 45 in various quantities.

    Hello Military contract 1911A1's were made by many different makers . The slides were marked with the maker for most part but one has to be aware many of these pistols can be found with one makers slide and another makers Frame the frame will have the serial number. ONE SAVING grace is the serial numbers were assigned Blocks of serial numbers for each maker therefore with the serial number we can tell both the date and Who made the frame so we should be able to tell you if the same maker made both the frame and slide.
