Plainfield Machine M1???

any idea when these guns were made/sold?
the paratrooper model isn't authentic, but it sure is cheap![;)]

    Plainfield guns were made during the 1960s-1970s. They use mil-spec parts.

    that's what is on the front page of the operation/instruction manual...also states 5% sales tax,last i heard i think there up to 12%...

    Plainfield carbines were produced from 1967 to 1975 when the company was bought out by Iver Johnson. When discontinued the Paratrooper model with it's distinctive wire stock sold for $125, a $20 premium over the standard wood stocked model. Plainfields were of excellent quality and as already mentioned they continued to use USGI parts long after competitor Universal began hobbling together mixed up and redesigned parts guns and called them carbines. I would not hesitate to purchase a Plainfield carbine, but the same cannot be said for many Universal and Iver Johnson's.

    thanks for the info! the plainfield was very tempting at under $500, but i ended up spending more and getting a 1943 Inland.

    I have a 1942 Inland carbine in 95% condition and have not shot it much as I don't like taking a chance of making it less-pretty. With that thought in mind I recently picked up a Plainfield carbine for shooting and it has not let me down. I like having one of each.

    no, this one i got on the auction side, but i got a nice garand from cmp last year.
    i haven't seen any paratroopers on cmp, but i haven't checked in a while
