Ithaca 37; 1970 DOM

I am thinking about bidding on an Ithaca that was manufactured in 1970, SN 371126170. My question is if a 1970 model 37 is the same quality as the older 37s, or did Ithaca cut quality in the 70s like too many other companies. This is going to be my son's first shotgun, and I want to give him something that he will be proud to pass to his children.

  I worked at Ithaca Gun in 1970. They were still building Quality guns then. The recivers started ont as a solid piece of steel. All the parts were hand polished. It was about the mid 70's the quality started to go down hill.
