3" Magnum vs 2.5" vs Long barrel vs Short, etc.
Hey guys,
I'm set on buying a Taurus Judge. It will not be my concealed carry gun. It MAY see some glovebox time on road trips. It MAY see some camping time as a protection gun from snakes/large animals. Here's the deal: I already have my "perfect" concealed carry gun. I already have plenty of shorter and lighter guns. This Judge will mainly be used to blow up fruits and vegetables at the range. So...
Do I go Ultra-Lite for any reason? Why should I?
Do I go short barrel for any reason? Again, why?
CAN I SHOOT THE 2.5" SHELLS FROM THE 3" MAGNUM?
I was hoping the Magnum with 6" barrel in stainless would fit my bill.
Thoughts, feelings or opinions?....
Respectfully,
Justin C.

The best ammunition to use out the the taurus judge is the Federal premium .410 "handgun" ammo, It is made specifically to be fired out of the shorter barrel on handguns as opposed to most .410 ammo which is made to shoot out of a longer shotgun barrel. The federal handgun ammo only comes in 2.5" so in my opinion buying the 3" is unneccasary but it does allow you a little more ammo selection to choose from. If you were gonna use it as a concealed carry occasionaly then I would just buy the 2.5 with the shorter barrel. 0 -
Fire a 3" in the 2.5" reolver, you have just locked up the cylinder. Shell opening OUT will bridge the cylinder/ bsrrel gap. 0 -
I'd get the 3in, just because you can shoot both lengths.I wouldn't get an ultra lite because of recoil, and barrel length probably won't make much difference. 0
