That's a tough one and I am not 100% certain, but I think it might depend on the age and even the caliber of the rifle. The 21D and the 21DA were both for model 94s but for different calibers. Sorry the answer is not complete but that's as much as I know. Maybe someone can add more.

Some years of 94s had factory bored and tapped holes and other years no holes, though holes were often bored bored and tapped for sights. BertH could tell you which years were which.

i have 2 carbines with this old sight on them.both are marked DA on the back.neither use the pin access screw hole for the front screw.both are about 3 1/4" center to center on screw holes.i have been told this may not be the right sight for a 94.

Please post a picture of each.

The application code "DA" is correct for the Winchester Model 1894(94) chambered in 25-35 W.C.F., 30 W.C.F., and 32 W.S. calibers, the Model 53, 25-20 W.C.F. & 32 W.C.F. calibers, the Model 55 all calibers, and the Models 64 & 65 all calibers.

That said, the Models 53 and 65 are variants of the Model 1892/92, and they use a slightly shorter length sight.

You don't say what caliber they are but the 21D is for .32-40 and .38-55 model 94s. The others use the 21 DA which is indeed for the Win 94 in .32 Special, 30-30 or .25-35. There are replicas available for an affordable price. The old original sights are worth hundreds of dollars. It is possible your rifle was drilled for the 21 DA if the holes were not pre-drilled at its time of manufacture as He Dog points out.
