FN Hi Power

i hav a fn hi power argintine contract gun, the rear sight is so small i can hardly see it, i would like to replace it but i cant get the old one out of the slide, been trying a brass punch and hammer but it dont move any sugestions

    There are the pics, as you can see, the serial # is 44550, with 290 on the right side behind the grip. I am tying to find out what year it was made, and what the value might be. The pics show the condition, I haven't cleaned it up yet, but I am hoping it looks alittle better when it is cleaned up.

    In the 1950's Browning had contracts with both what was then West Germany and Austria to manufacturer H-P's for their para militarys. Yours might be one of them, although I have never seen one with a secondary serial number on the frame.

    I had one in the 28,000 ser. # range, I believe it was pre ww2. it can with a numbered (matched to the pistol) clam shell holster.

    i had one of those cant remember the serial number but the 1st digit was as zero, mine was a argintine contract gun, real nice shooter but you need to have great vision to see those tiny sights, had mine dated from a guy at a gun show actualy a few guy, was told mine was from the early late 30s to ealry 50s as to a exact year was told no kept records on those, as to worth, about 400 to 600 depending on condition,
    oh and does yours have a crest on top of the slide

    I'm no Hi Power expert, but I'm aware that specifically dating one can sometimes be tough.

    I don't know if it applies to your's, but when countries contracted with FN for these pistols they each had a different serial number run.
