Help PLEASE!
I bought a new in box Marlin 1894C 357/38 lever gun this morning...went home and loaded 4 rounds of 38 Spl thru the gate into the tube...cycled the first and ejected it...then the lever stuck fully open and won't budge a bit...I can see the last bullet's rim in the tube but the action is jammed tight.
Now What????
Now What????

Hey guys need to sell two guns not sure what to ask.
One is a 12 ga. Charles-Daly Field automatic and other is a Rifle 30-06 Bolt action Model 1500 with a Simmons scope Whitetail Classic 6.5-20x50 WTC 18
Thanks for any help. Just need to know how much I can sell these for.0 -
Take the cap off of the mag tube and empty the shells out of the tube and try again. Sounds as if the shell holder did not catch the next shell. 0 -
ok I pulled the cap off the tube...two bullets did indeed slide out the open end..the third is stuck right where I mentioned earlier...I was able to drop my cleaning rod down the tube and move it with a few gentle taps back towards what I think is the carrier...it's wedged tight against the "carrier" now and won't budge at all.
Is there a way to remove this carrier...push the bullet out of the tube and replace the carrier?
What I'm calling the carrier you may be calling the shell holder.0 -
Had a similar problem with mine when I decided to see how some 38spl wadcutters would feed. Jammed it up so bad I had to have the range officer remove it and place it in the trunk of my car with the lever locked open.
Try removing the bolt that the lever pivots on below the receiver. This will allow the carrier (you are calling the holder) to drop all the way down. Use a screwdriver that fits.
Stop tapping on it with the rod. Get a flashlight and a mirror to have a look first to see what's hung up.
In the mean time, I'll put mine back together.
Clearly some rounds may not feed well if they are short or semi-wadcutter type.
I bought mine used. The receiver on mine needs to be disassembled and cleaned. It has some "rough" levering issues at times and there are wear marks on some of the internal parts.0 -
Wow, I hope this is an isolated case or two, and not a sign of things to come. I know Marlin is now sailing under the direction of Big Green(Remington), and Remington in the last 10 years or so has not had a great record.

SHELL ????
how about CARTRIDGE !!0 -
My 1894c wouldn't feed short rounds either, as I discovered when I tried some .38 Special wadcutters. I cleared the gun by dismantling it, and forever after I used only ammunition of the proper overall.
You may have to loosen the cartridge lifter (aka, carrier or shell holder). I believe the factory manual explains disassembly, and I think it is available on-line.0
